A-ONCE-IN-A-LIFE-TIME-OPPORTUNITY 

This is the ONLY interactive educational program which is based on Australian High School History Curriculum , which includes Australian High School students, to personally witness the re-enactment of the charge and participate in the Centenary events with the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. Malcolm Turnbull at Beersheba, Israel, on the 31st of October 2017. 

 Our 10-day program is from the 27th of October to the 5th of November 2017

The ANZAC Legacy

Learning on-site, the events and their significance, on a national and personal level.

Archaeology and History

Includes study of ancient land and maritime civilisations.

Religion and Society

Witness history of the three monotheistic faiths; Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

The Future

Innovation Technology taught by experts from the widely known Start-Up Nation, Israel

A bit about Paul: 

Managing Director of Tayalitours (Tour Guide Company), Paul Hakim is  dual national, born and educated in Sydney and is a Science graduate of University of New South Wales. 
Paul has studied History of Maritime Civilisation for Master Degree at the University of Haifa. Paul moved to Israel in 1987 and is a licensed tour guide with the Israel Ministry of Tourism. 

He has specialized in educational tours for students, managing and conducting inbound tours across Israel, as well as historic Israeli outbound tours of Poland and Czech Republic for Australian and American high school students, and educational tours (EF) for American school students with Contiki International in Australia.  

Paul is also a supplier to the Australian Embassy in Tel Aviv and regularly takes politicians and diplomats on cultural, historical and technology tours throughout Israel. 
He has delivered this high value service via the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Paul brings a wealth of experience to this project, sharing both his Australian heritage and his expertise of Israel and its cultures.

Day 1 - Leaving Australia

Sydney - Hong Kong - Tel Aviv: 
Leaving Sydney on Friday, 27th October - (fly through Hong-Kong)
Arrive Tel-Aviv Saturday, 28th October early morning.
Meet and greet Tour Director and Guide –Paul Hakim, at Ben-Gurion Airport, Tel-Aviv. 

Day 2 - Jaffa / Tel Aviv - Ramle

28th October 
Welcome breakfast at the ancient port city of Jaffa on the Mediterranean Sea.

Jaffa visitors center: Archaeological site in Jaffa learning history of the Fertile Crescent and Ancient Maritime Civilizations. 
• Learn the time line of history of ancient civilizations till modern      day
• Anzac History – Capture of Jaffa Port and the Yarkon River.
• Lunch

Ramle:
• Learn of the Anzac offensive after Jerusalem demonstrated by a tour in Ramle including the underground pools
• Ramle War Memorial Cemetery 
• Dinner: Middle Eastern Restaurant
• Accommodation: Tel Aviv

Day 3 - Tel Aviv - Innovation Day, Caesarea, Tel Gezer, Tel Sheba

29th October
Taglit innovation Centre:
Taglit - Birthright Israel built the “State of Mind” Innovation Center in partnership with Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange.
The exciting and cutting edge Innovation Center allows you to learn about the new advancements Israeli Start-Ups are making in different fields, such as science, medicine, security, space and more.
There is an interactive exhibition and continues with one on one, meet up with a leading Israeli Entrepreneur.

Caesarea including lunch:
• Caesarea: The port city built by Roman King Herod as a jewel of Roman        architecture and maritime civilization. 
Today, it features an intact hippodrome - the site of ancient chariot races and  gladiator fights, as well as public bathhouses and an impressive Amphitheater. 
• Introduction to marine archaeology and the importance of aquatic conservation of  the Mediterranean. 
Students will dive or snorkel to see a Roman underwater city  including roads, pillars and anchors.

Day 4 - Anzac Trail Bike Ride, Tel Sheba, Neve Midbar

30th October 
“The ANZAC Trail retraces and memorializes the route the ANZAC horsemen took when they conquered Beersheba. “ 

• We start at the Anzac Memorial site at Beeri
• Ride to locations: Tel-Gamma, Eshkol Park, Golda Park (Bir-Asluj) and Hanging Bridge. Those who are unable to ride will be taken by bus along the way and meet at every site of interest. Tel Sheba:
• The site before the charge took place

Neve Midbar:
• We finish the day at Neve Midbar Bedouin village
• Ride a camel like the camel corps, experience Bedouin culture and campfire under the stars ready for the big events tomorrow - The Centenary Events

Day 5 - The Centenary Event

31st October

• We join the Parade at Beersheba city; march with Australian Light Horsemen  
• Memorial Ceremony: (Televised live by the ABC) 
• Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu    and other dignitaries lay wreaths for the fallen soldiers. 
• Our tour participants will lay wreath on behalf of the Australian youth 
• Memorial ceremony at the Turkish monument 
• Witness the re-enactment of the charge 
• Final ceremony of the charge 
• Welcome ceremony at the Australian Soldier Park and BBQ 
• Drive to Masada, sleep over at Masada Youth hostel  

Day 6 - Masada, Dead Sea, Jerusalem

1st November 
• Masada sunrise climb, King Herods fortress and last Jewish sanctuary against the Roman 10th Legion
• Picnic breakfast
• Float on the Dead Sea and Lunch
• JERUSALEM - Commonwealth War Memorial Cemetery, Mt  Scopus
• View from the Mt. of Olives looking over the Temple Mount (Old City)
• Accommodation in Jerusalem

Day 7 - Jerusalem

2nd November

• Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum
• Israel National museum, see The Dead Sea Scrolls on display and model of Jerusalem during Roman times.
• Picnic overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem and explanation of the Holy city, home to the three Monotheistic religions.
• King David City including Hezekiah aqueduct system, literally walking through history, water knee deep with flashlight.
• The old city of Jerusalem including visiting all 4 quarters: - The Jewish quarter including the King David tomb - The Western Wall - Remnants of king Herod’s 2nd temple - The Cardo Roman road - The Christian quarter including parts of the Via Delarosa (way of the suffering) - Jesus site of last supper - Church of the holy Sepulcher 
• Walk through the Old Arab Shuk (market place).
• Dinner in down town Jerusalem
• The Sound and light show on the walls of Jerusalem - excellent, showing by art the different conquests over Jerusalem for thousands of years.

Day 8 - Sea of Galilee & Haifa

3rd November 
• Drive through the Jordan Valley; pass the Allenby Bridge, a vital position that the Australian Horsemen kept intact against a perpetual attack.
• We visit Tzemach Junction, a heroic and tough battle fought and won by the Australian Light Horsemen 
• Visit Christian sites including Mt of Beatitudes overlooking the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum and a dip in the sea!
• Drive to the Haifa War Memorial Cemetery, our last Anzac Ceremony. A special farewell dinner
• Sleep over in Haifa

Day 9 - Leaving Israel 

4th November

Ben Gurion Airport - Departures to Hong Kong 

 Day 10 - Back Home  

5th November

Hong Kong – Sydney, arrive at Sydney 20:45
